A 2018 American gothic supernatural horror film, The Nun is directed by Corin Hardy and written by Gary Dauberman, with a story credited to Dauberman and James Wan. It functions as a spiritual spin-off to The Conjuring 2 and forms the fifth entry in that shared universe. Starring Taissa Farmiga, Demián Bichir, and Jonas Bloquet, the movie features Bonnie Aarons returning as the Demon Nun, a version of Valak from The Conjuring 2. The narrative centers on a Roman Catholic priest and a novice nun who discover a dark secret in 1952 Romania.

Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema announced The Nun as a spin-off to The Conjuring 2, which had just opened five days prior, with Peter Safran and Wan producing. The original script was penned by David Leslie Johnson. Hardy committed to directing the film with a revised screenplay from Wan and Dauberman. Principal photography commenced in May 2017 in Bucharest, Romania.

The Nun premiered in the United States on September 7, 2018. Critics gave it poor reviews and earned $366million globally against a $22million budget. It ranked as the top-grossing film in the franchise until The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) was released. A follow-up, The Nun II, appeared in 2023.
