Crime drama

The Mule is a 2018 American crime drama film directed and starring Clint Eastwood, with Eastwood producing alongside Dan Friedkin, Jessica Meier, Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera, and Bradley Thomas. The screenplay was written by Nick Schenk and adapted from the 2014 New York Times article "The Sinaloa Cartel's 90-Year-Old Drug Mule" by Sam Dolnick, which tells the true story of Leo Sharp, a World War II veteran in his 80s who worked as a drug courier for the Sinaloa Cartel.

Co-starring Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest, and Andy García, this film marked Eastwood's first acting role since 2012 and his first time leading in a self-directed movie since 2008. Principal photography started in early June 2018 across Atlanta and Augusta, Georgia, with additional scenes filmed in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Colorado.

Released in the United States on December 14, 2018 by Warner Bros. Pictures, The Mule earned over $174 million. Critics responded positively, describing it as "poignant and charming" and commending Eastwood's performance.
