The Grinch is a 2018 American animated Christmas comedy film based on How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss. It was produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination, directed by Scott Mosier and Yarrow Cheney, and written by Michael LeSieur and Tommy Swerdlow. The film features narration by Pharrell Williams, with Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the Grinch, and Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, and Angela Lansbury appearing in supporting roles. The story centers on the Grinch's attempt to ruin Whoville’s Christmas celebration by stealing all of the town’s decorations and presents, accompanied by his dog Max.

This film is the third adaptation of the original book, after the 1966 television special and the 2000 live-action version. The project was first announced in 2013 with Peter Candeland as director. By 2016, Benedict Cumberbatch had been cast as the Grinch, while Chris Meledandri, Janet Healy, and Mosier handled production duties, along with Latifa Ouaou, Audrey Geisel, and Chris Renaud in executive producer roles. In 2018, Mosier replaced Candeland as co-director after the trailer’s release, though Candeland remained credited for Additional Story Direction. Danny Elfman composed the soundtrack, including a reworked version of You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, performed by Tyler, the Creator, and an original song written and performed by Tyler.

The film premiered in the United States on November 9, 2018. Critics gave it mixed reviews, but it earned $553million, making it the highest-grossing Christmas film ever and the top-performing Dr. Seuss adaptation to date.
