Show Dogs 2018
A 2018 buddy cop comedy film, Show Dogs was directed by Raja Gosnell and written by Max Botkin and Marc Hyman. Starring Will Arnett, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Natasha Lyonne, Jordin Sparks, Gabriel Iglesias, Shaquille O'Neal, Omar Chaparro, and Stanley Tucci, the story centers on a Rottweiler police dog and his human partner who infiltrate a high-end dog show to combat animal smuggling. Released in the United States on May 18, 2018, the film received poor reviews from critics. Within a week of its debut, controversy emerged as multiple critics and parent organizations claimed a scene portrayed child grooming as acceptable. The studio issued an apology and edited the film, which then returned to theaters for a second weekend. Show Dogs earned $40 million in comparison to its $5.5 million budget.
