A 2018 American musical fantasy comedy film, Mary Poppins Returns was directed by Rob Marshall and features a screenplay written by David Magee with a story credited to Magee, Marshall, and John DeLuca. The movie adapts elements from the book series Mary Poppins by P. L. Travers and serves as a sequel to the 1964 original Mary Poppins. In this installment, Emily Blunt portrays Mary Poppins, alongside supporting actors including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, and David Warner, who appears in his final film role. The narrative unfolds in London during the Great Depression, where Mary Poppins reappears to the Banks family following the passing of Michael's wife.

Walt Disney Pictures revealed the project in September 2015. Shortly after, Marshall was brought on board, followed by casting announcements for Blunt and Miranda in February 2016. Principal photography commenced in February and concluded in July 2017, with filming conducted at Shepperton Studios located in England. The film premiered globally at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 29 November 2018 before opening theatrically in the United States on 19 December 2018.

Mary Poppins Returns earned $362 million worldwide, receiving favorable reviews from critics who highlighted the performances of Blunt and Miranda, direction, visual presentation, musical score, choreography, costume design, production quality, and visual effects—particularly the animated sequences. Some reviewers noted that it relied heavily on its predecessor's formula. The film was selected as one of the top ten films of 2018 by both the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute. It garnered multiple award nominations including four at the 76th Golden Globe Awards (including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy), nine at the 24th Critics' Choice Awards, three at the 72nd British Academy Film Awards, and a SAG Award nomination for Blunt at the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards. Additionally, it received four Oscar nods in categories such as Best Original Score, Best Original Song ("The Place Where Lost Things Go"), Best Production Design, and Best Costume Design at the 91st Academy Awards.
