Deadpool 2 is a 2018 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Deadpool. It serves as the sequel to the 2016 Deadpool and marks the eleventh entry in the X-Men film series. The movie was directed by David Leitch and written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds stars in the title role, joined by Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jack Kesy. In the story, Deadpool assembles the X-Force to defend a young mutant from the time-traveling soldier Cable.

Work on a follow-up to the first Deadpool film started before its initial release, with confirmation made in February 2016. Originally, Reynolds, Reese, Wernick, and director Tim Miller planned to return for the second movie. However, Miller exited the project in October 2016 due to creative disagreements with Reynolds and was replaced by Leitch. Casting for Cable involved a broad search, ultimately resulting in Brolin being chosen for the role. Principal photography occurred in British Columbia between June and October 2017.

Deadpool 2 premiered at Empire Leicester Square in London on May 10, 2018, followed by its U.S. release on May 18 through 20th Century Fox. The film surpassed its predecessor at the box office, earning $785.9 million globally against a $110 million budget. It ranked as the ninth highest-grossing film of 2018, the top-grossing X-Men movie, and the highest-grossing R-rated film at that time. Critics responded positively overall, with many praising its humor, acting, action, and narrative, although some found fault with its tone, writing, and reused gags. A PG-13-rated version titled Once Upon a Deadpool was issued on December 12, 2018, receiving mixed reviews. After Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, Deadpool’s film rights reverted to Marvel Studios. The next installment, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and incorporating both characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), debuted on July 26, 2024 as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
