A 2018 science fiction action film, Bumblebee features the character from the Transformers toy line. The movie was directed by Travis Knight and written by Christina Hodson, marking the sixth entry in the Transformers franchise. Starring Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., John Ortiz, Jason Drucker, and Pamela Adlon, it takes place in 1987, following Bumblebee's arrival on Earth where he befriends a young girl named Charlie.

Work on a Bumblebee film began in 2016, with Knight confirmed as director the following year. Unlike earlier Transformers films directed by Michael Bay, this version focused more on storytelling and used inspiration from the original animated series and toys. Principal photography occurred in California between July and November 2017.

The premiere took place on December 3, 2018 at the Sony Center in Berlin, followed by a U.S. release on December 21 through Paramount Pictures. Critics responded positively, praising action scenes, Steinfeld’s role, Knight’s direction, visual effects, and the 1987 backdrop. The film performed well commercially, earning $468 million worldwide against a production cost estimated between $102 and 135 million. A follow-up, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, came out in June 2023.
