Political thrillerWar

A 2018 American political thriller film, Beirut—known in the United Kingdom as The Negotiator—was directed by Brad Anderson and written by Tony Gilroy. The story takes place in 1982 during the Lebanese Civil War. Jon Hamm plays Mason Skiles, a former U.S. diplomat who re-enters service in Beirut to rescue a colleague from the group that killed Skiles' wife. Supporting cast includes Rosamund Pike, Dean Norris, Shea Whigham, Larry Pine, and Mark Pellegrino.

The film made its debut on January 22, 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival, followed by a U.S. release on April 11, 2018. Critics responded positively, describing it as "absorbing despite its flaws" and highlighting performances by Hamm and Pike.
