A 2018 American science fantasy adventure film, A Wrinkle in Time represents Disney's second adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's 1962 novel, after the 2003 television movie. The film was directed by Ava DuVernay and written by Jennifer Lee and Jeff Stockwell. It centers on a young girl and her adoptive younger brother who embark on a journey to locate their missing father, assisted by three astral travelers. starring Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Zach Galifianakis, and Chris Pine.

Development started in late 2010 when Stockwell created the initial script draft, with Lee later rewriting it four years later. DuVernay was hired to direct in early 2016. Principal photography commenced on November 2, 2016 in Los Angeles, California, and moved near completion to New Zealand where filming concluded on February 25, 2017.
