A 2020 American horror film, The Hunt was written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof and directed by Craig Zobel. Starring Betty Gilpin and Hilary Swank, the movie features an ensemble cast including Ike Barinholtz, Ethan Suplee, Glenn Howerton, Amy Madigan, Wayne Duvall, Sturgill Simpson, and Emma Roberts. Jason Blum produced the film through his Blumhouse Productions banner, alongside Lindelof. Zobel and Lindelof have stated that the movie aims to satirize the deep political rift between American liberals and conservatives. In the story, a group of wealthy individuals captures working-class citizens for the purpose of hunting them.

The project was initially announced in March 2018, with casting completed the following year. Principal photography occurred in New Orleans. Originally set for release on September 27, 2019, the film opened in U.S. theaters on March 13, 2020 through Universal Pictures. Critics responded with mixed reviews. Shortly after its theatrical debut, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic led most cinemas to shut down within a week. As a result, the movie underperformed at the box office, earning just $12.4 million. Universal eventually made The Hunt available for digital viewing on March 20.
