Biographical drama

Joe Bell is a 2020 American biographical drama road film starring Mark Wahlberg, Reid Miller, and Connie Britton. The movie follows the true story of Joe Bell, a man who walks across America to speak out against bullying and honor his teenage son Jadin Bell, who died by suicide after being bullied for being gay. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and written by Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, the film was produced by Nine Stories Productions, the production company owned by Jake Gyllenhaal, with Gyllenhaal serving as executive producer. The film had its world premiere under its original title Good Joe Bell at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival on September 14, 2020. It was then released in the United States on July 23, 2021 by Roadside Attractions. Critics gave the film mixed reviews, divided on whether it came across as feel-good and inspirational or reductive and contrived.
