A 2020 period romantic comedy film, Emma (stylised as Emma.), was directed by Autumn de Wilde and features a screenplay written by Eleanor Catton based on the 1815 novel by Jane Austen. The story centers on Miss Emma Woodhouse, portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy, a wealthy and refined young woman residing with her father in Regency-era England. She spends her time entertaining herself by arranging matches and interfering in the romantic affairs of those around her.

Supporting cast includes Johnny Flynn, Josh O'Connor, Callum Turner, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, and Bill Nighy. The production was handled by Perfect World Pictures, Working Title Films, and Blueprint Pictures, with development beginning in October 2018 after Focus Features cast Taylor-Joy in the lead role. De Wilde was confirmed as director at that time, and the rest of the roles were filled by March 2019. Principal photography occurred from March through June 2019 across various locations in England.

Emma premiered in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2020 and in the United States on 21 February 2020 under the banner of Universal Pictures. Critics responded positively, especially praising the acting and visual elements. The film earned $27.4 million globally against a $10 million budget. It was nominated for two Academy Awards at the 93rd ceremony—Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling—and received a Best Costume Design nomination at the 74th British Academy Film Awards. Additionally, it garnered three nominations at the 26th Critics' Choice Awards and earned a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical (for Taylor-Joy) at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.
