Borat Subsequent Moviefilm is a 2020 mockumentary black comedy film. The movie features Sacha Baron Cohen in the role of Borat Sagdiyev, a fictional Kazakh journalist and television personality. It also stars Maria Bakalova as Tutar, who is set to be offered as a bride to then–U.S. vice president Mike Pence during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 presidential election. This film serves as a sequel to the 2006 movie Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

Although Baron Cohen had stated in 2007 that he had retired the Borat character, he was seen in disguise in 2019 and filmed in mid-2020, sparking rumors of a second film. The project officially began in September 2020, with Amazon Studios securing the distribution rights. It premiered on October23, 2020, through Amazon Prime Video.

Critics praised the performances by Baron Cohen and Bakalova, as well as the commentary on American culture. However, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani’s appearance drew divided reactions.

The film received three nominations at the 78th Golden Globe Awards, winning Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Baron Cohen) and Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy. At the 93rd Academy Awards, it was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (Bakalova, who became the first Bulgarian actress to be nominated for an Oscar). Additionally, Bakalova received BAFTA and Actor Award nominations as Best Supporting Actress and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The screenplay earned the award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 73rd Writers Guild of America Awards.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm holds the Guinness World Record for the longest title of an Oscar–nominated film.
