Science fiction actionSuperhero

Bloodshot is a 2020 superhero film starring Vin Diesel. It is based on the Valiant Comics character Bloodshot and tells the story of a soldier who dies in combat and is later resurrected with superhuman abilities by an organization seeking to turn him into a weapon. The movie was directed by David S. F. Wilson and written by Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer. Supporting cast members include Eiza González, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell, Lamorne Morris, and Guy Pearce.

The film is meant to launch a series of movies within the Valiant Comics shared cinematic universe. Bloodshot had its premiere at the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles on March 10, 2020, followed by a wide release in the United States on March 13 through Sony Pictures Releasing. That weekend marked the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused widespread theater shutdowns globally. The film earned $37.3 million worldwide. Due to these closures, Sony offered the movie for streaming less than two weeks after its theatrical debut. Critics gave the film mostly negative feedback, particularly criticizing Diesel's acting, although they praised the action scenes and visual effects.
