Reminiscence 2021
Neo-noirScience fiction thriller
A 2021 American tech noir thriller film, Reminiscence stars Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, Thandiwe Newton, Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira and Daniel Wu. The story centers on a man who employs a memory-seeing machine in search of his vanished lover. Written, directed and produced by Lisa Joy in her first feature film effort, the movie was co-produced with her spouse and collaborator Jonathan Nolan. Released in the US by Warner Bros. Pictures on August 20, 2021, it also appeared simultaneously on HBO Max's ad-free tier for a month. Critics noted its narrative ambition but found it lacking compared to films such as The Maltese Falcon and Inception. The film earned $16 million globally, despite costing $54 million.
