Frankenstein is a 2025 American science fiction horror film, produced, written, and directed by Guillermo del Toro, adapting the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley. The Gothic film features Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, with Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz appearing in supporting capacities. The narrative traces the journey of Frankenstein, an arrogant scientist whose attempt to generate life leads to devastating outcomes.

Del Toro had envisioned a loyal adaptation of Frankenstein as a "dream project" for many years. The film was originally in development at Universal Pictures, with Del Toro planning to cast his regular collaborator Doug Jones as the Creature and considering Bernie Wrightson for the monster's visual design. Nevertheless, Universal halted the project due to its intended Dark Universe franchise. Netflix reacquired the project in 2023, replacing Elordi as the Creature. Principal photography occurred between March and September 2024. Although Wrightson passed away in 2017, his illustrated collection Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein significantly influenced the film’s visual aesthetic.

The film made its debut at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on August 30, 2025. It had a restricted release in the United States beginning in October 17, followed by a global release on November 7 on Netflix. Critics responded favorably to the film. The National Board of Review and the American Film Institute both recognized it as one of the ten best films of 2025. It garnered five nods at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, and nine nominations at the 98th Academy Awards, such as Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (Elordi), ultimately winning in the categories of Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Production Design.
