Come from Away 2021
Come from Away (film) is a 2021 musical film based on a live stage recording of the 2017 Broadway musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The story recounts how 7,000 airline passengers were detained in Gander, Newfoundland, following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The film was made in response to Broadway closing due to the 19 pandemic in spring 2020. Directed by Christopher Ashley, it was filmed at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater in New York City with an audience of frontline workers and 9/11 survivors from May 2021. The production featured the 2021 Broadway cast. It premiered on Apple TV+ September 10, 2021, just one day before the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Critics gave it highly positive reviews.
