A 2021 American dystopian science-fiction action-thriller film, Chaos Walking was directed by Doug Liman and written by Patrick Ness and Christopher Ford. Based on Ness's science fiction trilogy Chaos Walking, it adapts the first book published in 2008 titled The Knife of Never Letting Go. The movie features Daisy Ridley, Tom Holland, Mads Mikkelsen, Demián Bichir, Cynthia Erivo, Nick Jonas, and David Oyelowo in leading roles. It depicts a world where a young man lives without women, and all beings can hear each other's thoughts through streams of images, words, and sounds referred to as "Noise." When a woman crash-lands on the planet, he defends her from threats.

The project was announced in 2011, with multiple rewrites following an initial draft by Charlie Kaufman. Subsequent revisions were made by Jamie Linden, John Lee Hancock, Gary Spinelli, Lindsey Beer, Ford, and Ness. In 2016, Doug Liman was named as director, and principal photography commenced in 2017. Originally scheduled for release on March 1, 2019, the film was pulled from that date due to reshoots conducted in April 2019 after disappointing test screenings.

Chaos Walking had its premiere in South Korea on February 24, 2021 and followed with a U.S. release on March 5, 2021. Critics responded negatively, criticizing character development and execution overall. The film was considered a box office failure, earning $27.1 million worldwide against a budget ranging from $100 to 125 million, leading to a significant write-down for Lionsgate.
