The School for Good and Evil 2022
A 2022 American fantasy film, The School for Good and Evil was directed by Paul Feig and features a screenplay co-written by Paul Feig and David Magee, adapted from Soman Chainani’s 2013 novel of the same name. Starring Sophia Anne Caruso as Sophie and Sofia Wylie as Agatha, the film follows two best friends who are transported to the Schools for Good and Evil. Once their circumstances shift dramatically, their friendship faces serious challenges.
Development started in 2013 when Roth/Kirschenbaum Films and Jane Startz Productions acquired the novel’s rights, with Universal Pictures initially handling the release. The project faced delays before Netflix assumed control in 2017. Three years later, Feig was brought on as director. Principal photography occurred in Northern Ireland from January through July 2021.
The School for Good and Evil premiered on October 19, 2022 under Netflix. Critics responded negatively to the storytelling, though they appreciated the visuals and acting. During its opening week, the film became Netflix's most-watched title.
