The Munsters 2022
Comedy horrorFantasy comedySupernatural horror
A 2022 American horror comedy film, The Munsters stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Daniel Roebuck, Richard Brake, Jorge Garcia, Sylvester McCoy, Catherine Schell, and Cassandra Peterson. This movie was produced, written, and directed by Rob Zombie based on the family sitcom of the same name from 1960s. It presents an origin story for the characters before the events of the television series.
Rob Zombie had wanted to make a Munsters film since 2003, working with Universal Pictures before his first movie release. Several projects were considered before confirming the adaptation in 2021. The director preferred black and white but was overruled by the studio. Instead, he chose a highly saturated visual style. Principal photography started in November 2021 in Budapest.
The film is a co-production between Universal 1440 Entertainment and Spookshow International Films. It was made available on Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. In the US, it streamed on Netflix on September 27, 2022. Critics responded with mixed reviews.
