A 2022 action-adventure fantasy film, The King's Daughter was directed by Sean McNamara and features a screenplay written by Barry Berman and James Schamus. It is adapted from Vonda N. McIntyre’s 1997 novel The Moon and the Sun. The movie includes Pierce Brosnan as King Louis XIV, Kaya Scodelario as Marie-Josèphe, and Benjamin Walker as Yves De La Croix. William Hurt appeared in this film as his final screen role before passing away in March 2022, though the production was completed eight years earlier.

Filming commenced in early April 2014 at Versailles, France. A two-week shoot took place in France, followed by additional work on April 23 in Melbourne, Australia. Principal photography concluded at the end of May 2014.

The release date was originally scheduled for April 2015, but the film’s debut was postponed just three weeks before. It remained unavailable for over five years until Gravitas Ventures acquired the distribution rights and released it theatrically on January 21, 2022, receiving poor reviews.
