Action role-playing

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a 2026 action role-playing game developed by Polish studio Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment for Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game takes place in the mid-14th-century within Vale Sangora, a fictional valley in the Carpathian Mountains governed by vampires. Players control Coen, a peasant who transforms into a "Dawnwalker," alternating between human form during the day and vampire form at night. He has 30 in-game days to save his family from vampire lord Brencis. The game does not feature a linear main quest; time only progresses through player-initiated actions or quests.

Rebel Wolves, established in 2022 by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and other former CD Projekt developers, released The Blood of Dawnwalker as its debut title. Constructed using Unreal Engine 5, the game was unveiled in January 2025 and is intended to be the first installment in a series of standalone stories featuring Coen across various time periods.

The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, 2026 and surpassed one million copies sold within three days. Critics responded positively, especially praising the writing and Coen’s dual nature. Many compared it to The Witcher 3. Its 30-day time system sparked debate among reviewers—while many appreciated its tension, others found the time pressure either less impactful or overly burdensome. Just one week after launch, Rebel Wolves started recruiting staff for a sequel project.
