Action-adventure

Lost Judgment is a 2021 action-adventure video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. It was launched for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on September 24, 2021, for Amazon Luna on March 31, 2022, and for Windows on September 14, 2022. This title serves as a sequel to the 2018 game Judgment, which was a spin-off of the Yakuza series. Lost Judgment centers on private investigator Takayuki Yagami as he looks into a criminal accused of both sexual harassment and murder. Yagami discovers ties between the suspect Akihiro Ehara and several killings targeting bullies in Kamurochō and Isezaki Ijincho. The game expands upon action sequences from its predecessor while modifying stealth mechanics. Yagami employs two returning fighting styles along with a new aikido-based Snake technique, and players can unlock the Boxer style through specific DLC.

Japanese voice actors include returning star Takuya Kimura as Yagami, alongside newcomers Hiroshi Tamaki as Soma and Koji Yamamoto as Kuwana. These characters are designed to match Yagami's storyline, with writers aiming to explore themes of bullying and whether Yagami has the ability to intervene. Similar to its predecessor, Lost Judgment earned favorable reviews from critics. The narrative was often appreciated for addressing sensitive issues in a serious way, although pacing and presentation drew varied reactions. Still, Yagami and the supporting cast were well received. Gameplay also attracted praise, especially the updated combat systems, while stealth and parkour features were criticized for being underdeveloped. Additional content came in the form of new sidequests and a story expansion featuring Yagami’s partner Masaharu Kaito.
