Mixtape 2026
Mixtape is a 2024 adventure video game developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur and published by Annapurna Interactive for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S, released on 7 May 2026. The game features a group of teenage friends during their final day together before parting ways, with the story unfolding to a custom playlist selected by protagonist Stacey Rockford. Game director Johnny Galvatron took narrative cues from John Hughes' films, designing the three primary characters inspired by the 1990s era of Hughes' work. Beethoven & Dinosaur secured rights to multiple songs from Galvatron's preferred list for use within game levels, featuring tracks by Devo, Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, and Joy Division.
Reviews generally acclaimed Mixtape for its storytelling and portrayal of 1990s America. Some players criticized the limited gameplay and brief duration, with allegations that favorable reviews were influenced by coordinated promotional efforts.
