Action adventure

Marvel's Wolverine is a 2026 action-adventure video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Inspired by the Marvel Comics character Wolverine, it draws from the extensive comic book legacy and previous media adaptations. The title serves as a standalone entry within the Marvel's Spider-Man series, presenting an original storyline that connects to Insomniac’s broader Marvel universe. The game's plot centers on Wolverine, a mutant with no memory, who returns to his old team Team X to uncover the disappearance of displaced mutants linked to industrialist Bolivar Trask and the Reavers militia, all while seeking to recover his own history.

Discussions about expanding beyond Spider-Man began during the making of Marvel's Spider-Man (2018), when Insomniac Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Marvel Games considered future projects featuring other characters. Insomniac showed interest in adapting Wolverine, leading to the announcement of the title in September 2021. This release featured creative director Brian Horton and game director Cameron Christian, along with writers Walt Williams and Mary Kenney.

Marvel's Wolverine was among targets of a ransomware attack on Insomniac Games in December 2023, which temporarily exposed development materials including gameplay footage and story details. By October 2024, Horton and Christian were replaced by Marcus Smith and Mike Daly in their respective roles. The game launched globally for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. Critics generally responded positively, applauding its visuals, cutscenes, voice work, and combat sequences, although they noted deficiencies in narrative depth, repetitive design, and weak storytelling.
