Wuthering Waves is a 2024 free-to-play open world gacha action role-playing game developed and published by Kuro Games. Revealed on March 23, 2022, the game was initially inspired by Death Stranding, aiming to build a post-apocalyptic setting where players explore the blend of new and old civilizations. Developers took cues from Punishing: Gray Raven for combat mechanics and Pokémon games for its Echo system. The title has been likened to Genshin Impact but focuses more on its combat elements than previous entries in the genre. Wuthering Waves launched on May 23, 2024, for Android, iOS, and Windows platforms, with a U.S. release on May 22. PlayStation 5 support arrived in January 2025, followed by macOS in March 2025 and Xbox Series X/S in July 2026. The game supports both single-player and multiplayer modes.
