Pikmin is a real-time strategy puzzle video game released in 2001 by Nintendo for the GameCube. It was developed and published by Nintendo EAD, with Shigeru Miyamoto as the creator and producer. The game introduces players to Captain Olimar, an alien pilot who crash lands on a strange planet. His mission is to collect missing ship parts within 30 days using Pikmin, the native species. Players control Olimar and guide various Pikmin types through levels, solving puzzles and defeating enemies.

The game received strong critical acclaim and sold over one million copies globally. It launched the Pikmin franchise, with Pikmin 2 released in 2004 as the first sequel. Pikmin was later ported to Wii in Japan in 2008 and worldwide in 2009 under the New Play Control! series. A high-definition remaster became available for Nintendo Switch in 2023. The game features single-player mode and was directed by Shigeru Miyamoto.
