Splatoon 3 2022
Splatoon 3 is a 2022 third-person shooter video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It serves as the third entry in the Splatoon series and follows up Splatoon 2. The title includes both online multiplayer modes—player versus player and player versus environment—as well as a single-player story campaign. All gameplay revolves around ink-firing weapons. A downloadable content expansion named Side Order launched on 22 February 2024 as part of the paid Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass.
The game debuted with a teaser trailer on 17 February 2021 before officially launching on 9 September 2022. Critics responded positively overall, noting improvements in the single-player campaign, character customization features, and gameplay systems. However, some reviewers criticized matchmaking performance, connection problems, and limited new content. By 31 March 2024, Splatoon 3 had achieved 11.96 million copies sold globally, establishing it as the fastest-selling title in the franchise and among the top-selling Switch games.
