Action-adventure, hack and slash

Bayonetta 3 is a 2022 action-adventure video game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It was directed by Yusuke Miyata, produced by Yuji Nakao, with series creator Hideki Kamiya serving as supervising director. The game was announced in December 2017 and released on October 28, 2022.

The story follows Bayonetta 3, the angel-hunting witch, as she confronts man-made bioweapons known as Homunculi, led by an entity called Singularity, which aims to destroy the multiverse. She is supported by a group of characters, including a coven of alternate universe versions of herself and a new witch-in-training named Viola.

After its initial announcement at The Game Awards 2017, information about Bayonetta 3 became scarce while PlatinumGames focused on titles such as Astral Chain, which was developed simultaneously. Its first full reveal included gameplay footage in September 2021 during a Nintendo Direct presentation. Original voice actress Hellena Taylor was replaced by Jennifer Hale due to a payment conflict.

Bayonetta 3 garnered generally positive reviews from critics. It was praised for its gameplay, visuals, and extra content but faced criticism regarding its narrative, character growth, camera mechanics, and technical performance. By March 2023, the game had sold 1.07 million copies globally.
