Platform

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2023 platform video game developed by Nintendo EPD and released for the Nintendo Switch. It marks the first side-scrolling Super Mario platform game since New Super Mario Bros. U in 2012. Players control various Mario characters in an effort to stop Bowser, who aims to take over a new land called the Flower Kingdom after using the magical Wonder Flower to fuse himself with the kingdom's castle.

Development started in 2019 under director Shiro Mouri, who drew inspiration from the original Super Mario Bros. Producer Takashi Tezuka aimed to reinvent the 2D Mario experience and introduce a new setting. The game became the fastest-selling Super Mario title, reaching over 17 million copies sold by 2026. It received multiple award nominations, including the Golden Joystick Award for Game of the Year, The Game Award for Game of the Year, and the British Academy Games Award for Best Game.

A Nintendo Switch 2 version titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup in Bellabel Park was launched on March 26, 2026. The game features single-player and multiplayer modes. It is classified as a platform genre title.
