Super Mario Bros. Wonder 2023
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2023 platform video game developed by Nintendo EPD and published for the Nintendo Switch. It marks the first side-scrolling Super Mario platform game since New Super Mario Bros. U in 2012. Players control various Mario characters as they work to stop Bowser, who plans to take over a new realm called the Flower Kingdom after using the magical Wonder Flower to merge himself with the kingdom's castle.
The development of Super Mario Bros. Wonder started in 2019 under the direction of Shiro Mouri, who drew inspiration from the original Super Mario Bros. Producer Takashi Tezuka aimed to refresh the 2D Mario gameplay and present a new setting. The game quickly became the fastest-selling entry in the Super Mario series, reaching over 17 million units sold by 2026. It received multiple award nominations, including the Golden Joystick Award for Game of the Year, The Game Award for Game of the Year, and the British Academy Games Award for Best Game.
A Nintendo Switch 2 version titled Super Mario Bros. Wonder + Meetup in Bellabel Park was released on March 26, 2026.
