Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a 2023 action-adventure platform video game developed and published by Team Reptile. Players control a member of the Bomb Rush Crew, a youth gang, navigating the fictional city of New Amsterdam using inline skates, skateboards, and bicycles. The objective involves spraying graffiti, battling rival gangs, avoiding law enforcement, and seizing control of all five boroughs.
The game launched digitally for Nintendo Switch and Windows on 18 August 2023. It later became available digitally for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 1 September 2023. Physical releases were also made for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox One/Series X on 5 December 2023.
The visual design, soundtrack, core gameplay elements, and overall theme are heavily influenced by the 2000s titles Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio Future from SEGA. These games were originally released for Dreamcast and Microsoft’s Xbox consoles. The musical score features contributions from multiple indie artists, including several compositions by Hideki Naganuma, who worked on the Jet Set Radio series.
Critics responded with generally positive feedback regarding gameplay, visuals, and music. However, opinions were split on how closely it mirrors Jet Set Radio. Some praised its dedication to its source material, while others labeled it unoriginal. Additionally, certain reviewers criticized its combat system and basic trick mechanics.
