Black Witness 2024
Black Witness is a 2024 non-fiction book written by Amy McQuire, an Aboriginal Australian journalist and researcher. The book follows McQuire's criticism of how mainstream media covers stories involving First Nations Australians. It argues that standard journalistic principles such as objectivity and fairness are "colonial" in nature, serving to suppress marginalized voices. In an interview featured in Missing Perspectives, McQuire stated that "objectivity has always been a myth, and it has always been used against those who are being oppressed.
