Dreamland Japan 1996
Dreamland Japan is a 1996 book written by Frederik L. Schodt and published by Stone Bridge Press. It was meant to serve as a follow-up to Schodt's earlier work Manga! Manga! The World of Japanese Comics from 1983. The book features details about numerous significant manga publications, including eight full-color pages displaying magazine covers. It also profiles manga creators and artists, many of whom are unfamiliar beyond Japan’s borders. An extensive section is devoted to Osamu Tezuka, referred to as the "god" of manga. Additionally, it discusses changes in manga since 1983, such as how the Aum Shinrikyo cult used manga for propaganda purposes, the growth of otaku culture, and the impact of computer technology on manga production.
