Monster 2022
Monster is an American biographical crime drama anthology television series directed by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan for Netflix. Each season of the show explores a different notorious murderer from American history. Murphy and Brennan share the role of showrunners. The project began as a limited series but was expanded into an anthology format following the strong performance of its inaugural season, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which aired on September 21, 2022. Subsequent seasons include The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story in 2024, The Ed Gein Story in 2025, and The Lizzie Borden Story in 2026.
Critics have offered varied responses to the series, with controversy surrounding historical accuracy and ethical concerns regarding the portrayal of true crime. Nonetheless, Monster has achieved global commercial success. It has garnered multiple awards and nominations from prominent ceremonies such as the Primetime Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Actor Awards, Critics' Choice Awards, and BAFTA Television Awards.
