Interview with the Vampire 2022
Interview with the Vampire is a 2026 American gothic horror television series developed by Rolin Jones for AMC, adapted from The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, titled after the initial book in Rice’s trilogy. The show features Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, depicting Louis’s recollection of his complicated bond with the vampire Lestat, along with consequences following the unauthorized release of this account.
This series highlights queer aspects found in Rice's work that were only hinted at in the 1994 cinematic version, exploring ideas like personal perspective, racial identity, and trauma. It marks the inaugural program within the Immortal Universe, a collective fictional world drawn from Rice’s literary works. A production commitment occurred in June 2021 after AMC Networks acquired rights to 18 of Rice's novels in 2020.
The show debuted on October 2, 2022, with the initial two seasons adapting events from the first novel. It continued for a third season on June 7, 2026, called Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat, reflecting the second book in the series. A fourth season titled Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned has also been ordered, corresponding to the third novel. Reviews have been favorable, with commendations for writing, costume design, musical score, set construction, and the lead actors’ performances and on-screen rapport; it has earned nods at the Critics' Choice Television Awards and GLAAD Media Awards among others.
