Halo 2022
Action-adventureDramaScience fiction
Halo is an American military science fiction television series created by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane for the streaming platform Paramount+. The show is based on the video game franchise originally made by Bungie and later developed by 343 Industries. It depicts a 26th-century conflict between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, a theocratic-military coalition of alien species committed to destroying humanity. John-117 and Cortana, voiced by Pablo Schreiber and Jen Taylor, are the main characters; Cortana's voice is reprised from the original video games.
Work on the Halo television adaptation started in mid-2013. Killen and Kane were the showrunners for the first season, which contained nine episodes. Production began in Ontario, Canada, in October 2019, but post-production for the first five episodes was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The filming resumed in Budapest, Hungary, in February 2021. Ahead of its debut, the series was renewed for a second season in February 2022, with David Wiener taking over as showrunner and executive producer. Shooting for the second season started in September 2022 and concluded in May 2023.
The first season of Halo launched on March 24, 2022 and ended on May 19. Critics generally responded positively, appreciating its action sequences, acting, and visual effects, although some found the writing predictable and noted changes from the source material. The second season premiered on February 8, 2024 and concluded after eight episodes on March 21. It received favorable reviews, with critics stating it improved upon the first season. The series was discontinued in July 2024 after two seasons.
