Death's Game 2023
Death's Game is a 2023–2024 South Korean fantasy anthology series that was created and directed by Seo In-guk. The show is based on a webtoon titled Death's Game by Lee Won-sik and Ggulchan. It centers on Choi Yee-jae, a man who ends his life through suicide after despairing. He is then confronted by an entity called Death (Park So-dam), who sentences him to 12 cycles of rebirth and death. During each cycle, Yee-jae must survive the death of his host to earn the right to live that life. The series aired from December 15, 2023 to January 5, 2024 on TVING, and is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in select regions excluding South Korea and China. Critics responded positively, appreciating its production quality and philosophical themes, although some felt it leaned too heavily on visual effects and oversimplified mental health issues. The series earned nominations for Best OTT Original and Visual Effects at the 2024 Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards, and was ranked ninth among the best K-Dramas of 2024 by Time Magazine.
