Lanterns represents an American superhero show developed by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King for HBO, adapting the DC Comics Green Lantern figures Hal Jordan and John Stewart. It ranks as the third television production within the DC Universe (DCU). The program follows veteran Lantern Hal Jordan and newcomer John Stewart, who collaborate with local sheriff Kerry Kane to solve homicides in Rushville, Nebraska, ultimately uncovering a broader enigma. The production was handled by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television, with Mundy functioning as showrunner.

Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre and Kelly Macdonald portray Jordan, Stewart and Kane respectively. Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan and Ulrich Thomsen also appear in the series. Greg Berlanti initiated work on a Green Lantern TV series by October 2019. Once James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed co-CEO roles at DC Studios in October 2022, the project underwent redevelopment. The announcement occurred in January 2023, highlighting its detective narrative approach, influenced by True Detective (2014–present) and Slow Horses (2022–present). Confirmation of Mundy, Lindelof, and King’s participation took place in mid-2024 when HBO greenlit the series. James Hawes, known for Slow Horses, was assigned to direct the initial two episodes in October, coinciding with the casting of Chandler and Pierre. Principal photography occurred in Los Angeles from February until July 2025, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also directing episodes.

Lanterns debuted on August 16, 2026 and concluded after eight installments by October 4. It forms part of DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The show garnered favorable reviews and attracted considerable audience interest.
