A 2026 romantic drama limited series, Normal People adapts the 2018 novel by Sally Rooney. The show was crafted by Rooney, Alice Birch, and Mark O'Rowe, and directed by Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie Macdonald. It traces the connection between Marianne Sheridan (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell Waldron (Paul Mescal), who are classmates in secondary school and later at university.

In 2019, the project received approval for production. Edgar-Jones and Mescal were confirmed as leads shortly after. Additional casting followed, once Rooney was named as a writer alongside Birch and O'Rowe. Macdonald joined as director with Abrahamson, continuing their collaboration with Element Pictures. Principal filming started in May 2019 and wrapped in February 2020, using locations in County Sligo, Dublin, Sant'Oreste, and Luleå.

The series debuted in the UK on 26 April 2020, on BBC Three. In Ireland, episodes aired weekly on RTÉ One from 28 April through June 2. It launched in the US on Hulu on 29 April. Critics praised its acting, especially Mescal’s performance. He was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards and took home Best Actor at the 67th British Academy Television Awards. The series appeared on acclaimed television lists from Vogue, BBC, Harper's Bazaar, The New York Times, and more.
