The Mandela Catalogue 2021
The Mandela Catalogue represents a 2021 American analog horror franchise crafted by YouTuber Alex Kister. The series unfolds primarily during the 1990s and early 2010s, within the fictional Mandela County. It centers on otherworldly beings called "Alternates" who invade human lives, inflicting psychological torment that frequently leads to suicide, aiming to replace their victims as doppelgängers.
By July 2026, the franchise consists of two acts containing six volumes and thirteen brief installments, each exploring different elements of the larger narrative. The series gained online traction early on, partly because of user-generated reaction videos and detailed analyses shared across internet platforms. YouTubers contributed significantly to its growing recognition. A film version is currently being developed, co-written and directed by Kister, under the banners of United Artists, Amblin Entertainment, and Paper Street Pictures.
