Comedy-dramaMysteryScience fiction comedy
Resident Alien is an American science fiction comedy-drama television series that aired from January 2021 to August 2025 on Syfy. Created by Chris Sheridan and based on the comic book by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, the show features Alan Tudyk in the title role as an alien who crash-lands on Earth. Originally intending to destroy the planet, this extraterrestrial experiences a moral dilemma. The series ran for four seasons, with confirmation in July 2025 that season 1, episode 1 would be its final one. The alien language shown in the series is actually Esperanto written in an invented right-to-left script. This phrase from season 1, episode 1 translates to "four months ago" (antaŭ kvar monatoj).
