Invincible is a 2021 American adult animated superhero television series that originated from the Image comic book series co-created by Robert Kirkman alongside Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. The show was developed for the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video and produced by Skybound Entertainment, Wind Sun Sky Entertainment, Point Grey Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios. It centers on Mark Grayson, a teenager who is half-human and half-alien, becoming the superhero known as "Invincible" under his father Nolan / Omni-Man's mentorship. Nolan is depicted as the most powerful hero in existence. As Mark learns to handle his abilities, he faces difficulties balancing his life with his responsibilities and attempts to surpass his father’s legacy. He remains unaware of an overarching threat that endangers the planet and leads him to question his role in it. Steven Yeun voices Mark, while J. K. Simmons and Sandra Oh portray his parents Nolan and Debbie Grayson respectively, with other actors taking on recurring parts.
The first season of eight episodes launched across March and April 2021, prompting Amazon to order a second and third season. A prequel special titled "Invincible: Atom Eve" debuted in July 2023. Season two, also eight episodes, was split into two parts released in November 2023 followed by March and April 2024. The third season’s eight episodes were shown across February and March 2025. The fourth season’s eight episodes aired during March and April 2026. Plans for a fifth and sixth season have already been confirmed.
The series gained strong critical recognition, with particular appreciation for its action, storytelling, voice acting (especially Yeun, Oh, and Simmons), loyalty to the original source material, and emotional depth. Invincible has been shortlisted for three Primetime Emmy Awards, two Annie Awards, and received a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination for Best Animated Series.
