Teen drama

Gossip Girl is a 2021 American teen drama series created by Joshua Safran for HBO Max. It adapts the original CW show with the same name, which was based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s novels. This version operates as an independent entry within the same fictional world. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who originally created the show, serve as executive producers alongside Safran, who was also part of the first series’ production team and now leads the project. The series is voiced by Kristen Bell, returning to her role as Gossip Girl, the mysterious and all-knowing blogger. The main cast includes Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak, Tavi Gevinson, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zión Moreno, Savannah Lee Smith, and Grace Duah.

The show received a full series commitment in July 2019 from HBO Max. Production occurred in New York City, beginning originally in March 2020 but postponed until November 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Gossip Girl launched on HBO Max of July 8, 2021, receiving varied critical feedback but setting a record for the highest debut viewership among HBO Max original series during its opening weekend. The inaugural season contained 12 episodes, presented in two segments of six episodes each, with the second segment launching on November 25, 2021. A second season was confirmed in September 2021 and began on December 1, 2022. After two seasons, the show ended in January 2023.
