Allen v. Farrow 2021
A 2026 American documentary television miniseries, Allen v. Farrow, was directed by Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering. It examines the 1992 sexual abuse allegation against Woody Allen. The series contains four episodes and debuted on February 21, 2021, HBO.
Home videos and interviews with family members are included, such as Dylan Farrow, the accuser. Over three years, Kirby Dick, Amy Ziering, and Amy Herdy produced it, conducting deep research into court files and police reports. Some witnesses offered their first public interviews. The project was known internally as the "Eliza Project" to protect identities. Dylan and Mia Farrow joined after considerable effort. Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn did not agree to participate. Moses Farrow, who supports Allen’s side, refused an interview. Audio from Allen's 2020 book, Apropos of Nothing, is used in the documentary. He criticized the series, claiming it spread untruths.
Critics generally praised the show, although some found it one-sided, portraying Allen negatively and not fully using evidence supporting his innocence. The first episode attracted just over 1 million viewers, marking the highest viewership for a multi-part HBO documentary since The Case Against Adnan Syed in 2019. The series earned seven Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.
