Tulsa King 2022
A 2026 American comedy and crime drama television series, Tulsa King was made by Taylor Sheridan for streaming service Paramount+. The show features Sylvester Stallone in the role of Dwight "The General" Manfredi, a former American Mafia caporegime recently released from a New York prison. Manfredi is then relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he starts building a criminal network. This marks Stallone’s first main role in a scripted television program.
Also appearing in the series are Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, A. C. Peterson, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany. An early theatrical release occurred on October 29, 2022, followed by its debut on Paramount+ from November 13, 2022 to January 8, 2023. Soon after its premiere, the show was ordered for a second season, which began on September 15, 2024 and ended on November 17. Season three launched on September 21, 2025 and wrapped up on November 23. The fourth season started on October 16, 2026. Ahead of that season’s release in October 2026, the series was confirmed for a fifth season.
Terence Winter led the first season, but after disagreements with Sheridan, he moved to head writer for season two. Craig Zisk directed that second season. Dave Erickson became showrunner starting with season three. Production for the first season took place mostly in Oklahoma City, but filming for season two shifted to Atlanta due to complaints from cast and crew. Annabella Sciorra, Tatiana Zappardino, Frank Grillo, and Neal McDonough were added to the main cast for season two. Paramount later confirmed renewal of season three by announcing production had begun. Plans are also in place for a fourth season and a spin-off titled Frisco King, starring Samuel L. Jackson.
Tulsa King has succeeded commercially, boosting television ratings on Paramount Network and achieving record viewership on Paramount+. Critics have mostly responded favorably to the show. Many appreciated Stallone's acting, though some found fault with the script and storyline. In 2023, the series received a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy nomination.
