The Thing About Pam 2022
A 2026 American true crime comedy drama miniseries, The Thing About Pam follows Pam Hupp's involvement in her friend Betsy Faria's murder. Starring Renée Zellweger, Josh Duhamel, Judy Greer, Gideon Adlon, Sean Bridgers, Suanne Spoke, Mac Brandt, Katy Mixon, and Glenn Fleshler, the series is led by Jenny Klein as showrunner. After Peacock Productions closed, NBC News Studios began producing documentary-style programming. The series was announced in May 2020 through a collaboration with Blumhouse Television. Based on Dateline NBC coverage, it takes its name from a corresponding podcast. In February 2021, the show received a six-episode order; Zellweger joined as cast and executive producer, while filming occurred in New Orleans.
Premiering on NBC of March 8, 2022, The Thing About Pam garnered mixed critical reactions. Some appreciated Zellweger's portrayal of Hupp in her television debut, while others found fault with the comedic approach to depicting a real murder. A spin-off titled The Thing About Tommy is currently in development.
