Thrash represents a 2026 American survival thriller crafted by Tommy Wirkola in both writing and directing capacities. Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou headline the cast. A coastal community encounters a Category 5 hurricane causing shark influx due to flooding. Wirkola collaborated with Adam McKay and Kevin Messick of Hyperobject Industries.
Sony Pictures unveiled the project in May 2024. Production commenced that July at Melbourne locations. Originally scheduled for theatrical distribution, Sony shifted rights to Netflix for streaming availability. Title modifications occurred throughout development, featuring Beneath the Storm and Shiver.
The United States premiere happened on April 10, 2026. Critical reception proved divisive.
