The Super Mario Galaxy Movie represents a 2026 American animated adventure comedy motion picture derived from Nintendo's Mario video game series, conceived by Shigeru Miyamoto. The film was helmed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with screenplay contributions from Matthew Fogel. It serves as the follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key return in their respective roles, while Benny Safdie, Donald Glover, Glen Powell, and Brie Larson are included among the new cast members. Production was handled by Universal Pictures, Illumination, and Nintendo. Within the narrative, Mario, Luigi, and their companions journey into space to confront Bowser and his offspring, Bowser Jr. (Safdie), in order to rescue Rosalina (Larson).

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa indicated in May 2021 that Nintendo wished to develop additional animated features based on its intellectual properties if the then-unreleased Mario film achieved success. Prior to the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Illumination CEO and producer Chris Meledandri was questioned regarding the potential for a sequel in April 2023. After achieving box office triumph, a fresh animated Mario production was revealed to be in progress at Illumination during March 2024, with Horvath and Jelenic set to direct once again and Fogel as screenwriter. The cinematic work draws influence from titles like Super Mario Galaxy (2007) and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010), along with other Nintendo titles including the Star Fox franchise.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie debuted at Minami-za in Kyoto on March 28, 2026, subsequently opening in American theaters on April 1 through Universal Pictures. Reviews from critics have been characterized as either mixed or unfavorable. Despite this, it performed well commercially, earning $1.013billion globally against a $110million budget, ranking as the fifth-best-grossing film of 2026, and the second-most profitable video game adaptation ever, surpassed only by its predecessor.
