The Nun II 2023
A 2023 American gothic supernatural horror film, The Nun II follows the story of Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons reprising their roles from the first movie, with Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell joining the cast. The film, serving as both a sequel to The Nun (2018) and the eighth installment in The Conjuring Universe franchise, was directed by Michael Chaves and written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and Akela Cooper from a story by Cooper. Peter Safran and James Wan produced the film.
In 2017, Wan mentioned the idea of a Nun sequel, and by 2019, Safran confirmed early development. Initially hired as sole writer, Cooper was later joined by Goldberg and Naing in crafting the final script. Chaves, who previously directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and The Curse of La Llorona (2019), took on the role of director. Principal photography started in October 2022 in France.
The Nun II premiered in the United States through Warner Bros. Pictures on September 8, 2023. It earned $269 million worldwide, achieving commercial success but receiving mixed reviews from critics.
